The Open Page Educator’s Award

The legendary Greek philosopher Aristotle once said “Those who educate children well are more to be honored than they who produce them; for these only gave them life, those the art of living well.” As India takes on the challenges of the Information age and transforms itself into a knowledge based economy, our Government has most aptly made education one of its top priorities in policy development. It is with a sense of mission and pride that The Open Page, the Educational Newspaper for School community had launched The Open Page Educator’s Award in 2014-15. It has set its task of encouraging participation from our community in paying respect to visionary individuals whose outstanding achievements have made a significant impact on the learning and teaching culture in Gujarat. To celebrate the noble profession of teaching and to recognize the teachers and learning communities The Open Page had organized its first ever Educator’s Award function on January, 28, 2015 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Hall, Ahmedabad.

The Award Ceremony was graced by the honourable presence of His Excellency Shri Om Prakash Kohli, Governor of Gujarat as ‘Guest of Honour’, Mr Savjibhai Dholakia, Founder – Hari Krishna Export Pvt Ltd as ‘Guest of Ceremony and Air Marshal P.K.Desai as ‘Special Guest’. Prior to the ceremony, Jury round was held by the most eminent juries from the various field like school education, higher education, social service and medical to name a few. The eminent jury members interviewed 3 finalists from each of the nine categories for the final winner.

Total 421 entries & nominations had been received for The Educator’s Award from the various regions in Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar, Porbandar & Kutch. Our eminent torch bearers had assisted and guided from each of the area to do the background check of the nominees for the particular regions.
